Painter, especially of portraits, and printmaker. He was born in Aberdeen, where he eventually died and where he studied at Gray’s School of Art; was then at Royal Scottish Academy. He showed at RA, RSA to which he was elected in 1924 and RP of which he was a member. His notable portraits include a number of legal figures, such as Viscount Haldane and Viscount Reading. Tate Gallery holds a portrait of his mother.
