A cenotaph with inset life-sized figure of soldier in high relief in niche. The soldier rests on arms reversed, bareheaded and a helmet is at his feet. There are carved wreaths on three other faces of the cenotaph, with a Latin cross about the wreath on the rear face. The arms of Burslem are carved in relief at the top of the front face.
