London-born landscape painter Richard Croft studied at Bromley College of Art and Brighton College of Arts and Crafts. He settled in Belfast in 1959 and taught art in Annadale Grammar School for many years. Croft’s landscapes are characterised by simplified shapes and patterns and by pale tones. Describing his method of painting as 'funambulism or tightrope walking', Croft switches between abstraction and realism.
