Originally a Field Archaeologist, Katey was Collections Officer (Local History) at The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, Stoke-on-Trent, where she curated the archaeological, social history and industrial collections, including excavated finds from Staffordshire, the Arnold Bennett collection and a Mk XVI Spitfire. She has also worked at Keele University as curator of their ceramics collection and Archaeology Convenor in the Adult Education Department.

Katey was Staffordshire Coordinator for Art UK’s Oil Paintings project. She then managed the digitisation teams across the UK for the last four years of the project and enjoyed working with collections in all areas of the country, from Belfast and Aberdeen to Devon and Guernsey. She has calculated that during this time she travelled the same amount of miles as it takes to circumnavigate the earth twice!

She is now Deputy Director of Art UK and responsible for a major project to digitise the UK’s national collection of sculpture.

One of Katey’s favourite paintings is Below Five Clouds, The Roaches by Frederick John England, as it reminds her of the landscape around her home in the Staffordshire Moorlands.
