Sculptor in glass fibre, papier mâché and bronze, born in Belfast, where she settled. Brown developed from being a painter. Her work was figurative and abstract, noted for its delicate colour, serenity and calm. She studied painting at Belfast College of Art, 1946, then National College of Art in Dublin, 1947–50, subsequently in Paris. Her teachers included Maurice McGonigal and Sean Keating. She took part in many mixed exhibitions, including RHA, RUA, WIAC. Had a solo show at CEMA Gallery, Belfast, in 1951, others including New Vision Centre, 1959–64; Arts Council Gallery, Belfast, 1962; David Hendriks Gallery, Dublin, 1966–84; and a mid-career retrospective at Ulster Museum, Belfast, and tour, 1982. In that year she became a member of the Sculpture Society of Ireland.
