Artist who painted, sculpted and became involved in printmaking, photography and films, writing and books; teacher. He was married to the artist Patricia Gonzalez. Boshier was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire, and attended Yeovil School of Art, 1953–7, and Royal College of Art, 1959–62. After showing with Young Contemporaries in 1959 Boshier was included in several hundred mixed exhibitions internationally. He had a first solo exhibition, Image in Revolt, at Grabowski Gallery, 1962, several dozen following after that, later ones including Texas Gallery, Houston, and Mandeville Gallery, University of California, both 1991, Galerie de Centre, Paris, 1993, and Connaught Brown, 1996.

From 1963–73 Boshier was an instructor at Hornsey College of Art, from 1963–79 at Central School and from 1973–9 at Royal College of Art. Many further appointments followed in Britain and abroad, then in 1980 Boshier joined University of Houston, Texas, eventually becoming professor. In the early 1990s he returned to live in England, settling in Kingsbury Episcopi, Somerset. Boshier’s art went through various phases, touching on Pop Art, hard-edge Op Abstraction and politically radical conceptual art. Tate Gallery, British Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum and several dozen other notable international collections hold Boshier’s work.
