Arts Award is a range of unique qualifications that supports anyone aged up to 25 to grow as artists and arts leaders, inspiring them to connect with and take part in the wider art world. Since its launch in 2005, Arts Award has supported over half a million young people to achieve a qualification in the arts.
Uckfield Community College
Supported by Arts Award advisers and by progressing through the five levels, young people get to:
- discover the enjoyment of creating and participating in arts activities
- experience arts events
- develop creative and communication skills that are essential for success in twenty-first-century life
- explore the work of artists and craftspeople and gain insights into the professional art world
- gain experience and knowledge to help progress into further education and employment
There are no entry requirements, no time limit for completing the award, and no set rules on how to present final work.

Arts Award can be achieved and assessed completely digitally, and through using digital resources like Art UK, young people can experience a rich cultural education even if they are not able to visit galleries in person. 'Visiting' virtual galleries counts as arts engagement for Arts Award, and through engaging with professional artists via videos and resources on the Art UK website, young people get insights into the arts that they otherwise may not have access to.
