This life-size gilded copper angel holding a laurel wreath stands on top of the old Town Hall in Burslem. The angel was immortalised by Arnold Bennett in his books 'Clayhanger' and 'The Old Wives Tale' where Burslem is thinly disguised as Bursley. The angel is also rumoured to have been the inspiration for Robbie Williams' hit song, 'Angels', in 1997.
