Addenbrooke’s Arts is the arts project for Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a large teaching hospital on the southern edge of Cambridge. The Hospital serves the local community and is also a regional and national centre for excellence in healthcare. The Addenbrooke’s Arts Project started 30 years ago with the purchase of a collection of pictures, an initiative of senior doctors and administrators at the hospital. Since then a huge number of paintings, sculpture and other artwork has been commissioned for the Hospital along with loans and donations contributing to a collection that now numbers over 4,000 works.
Addenbrooke’s Arts is funded entirely through charitable funds and donations.
Paintings in the collection include ‘Sathia Thiru’ by Sir Roy Calne, ‘Spiral on Red’ by John Copnall, and more contemporary works such as ‘St Ives, Cornwall (Red Sky)’ by Elaine Pamphilon.
